UPDATE ON THE SENIOR MEAL PROGRAM
Dallas County has authorized the City of Garland PRCAD to continue serving and delivering meals to currently registered seniors.
Any new seniors wishing to participate in the meal program, please call Garland Senior Activity Center.
The approval process may take a few days, so please be patient. Once Dallas County has approved those new individuals, those seniors will need to drive to Garland Senior Activity Center for takeout meals only. New participants will not be able to have their meals delivered. Meals will be served Monday through Friday only.
Interested citizens may call Garland Senior Activity Center and speak to staff if interested.
Remember to practice social distancing and wash your hands. Check our Disease Information page for updates related to the virus.
The Client Intake and Service Request Form (PDF) must be completed to participate in the lunch program. This service is supported, in part, by the Dallas Area Agency on Aging (DAAA), the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) and Dallas County.
Transportation is provided for seniors ages 60 and over from their homes to either one of the senior centers each weekday. The program is offered free of charge, however, participants must reside within the city limits of Garland and must participate in the lunch program to qualify for this service.
Additionally, transportation to doctor appointments within the city limits of Garland can be provided depending on availability.
Transportation opportunities are limited. For more information, call 972-205-2769.
